Charles T. Garrett
was born to Julius and Celia Mae Garrett on February 12, 1922 in Mt. Vernon, IN. At an early age his family relocated to the city of Carmi, IL where he grow-up and attended local schools. Charles T. Garrett, better know by friends in San Diego as & chuck, but to his family back east he is still called Charles.

Pastor Benjamin grew up first as a Roman Catholic, and at age eight he began attending the Pentecostal church with his grandaunt on the island of Dominica, in the West Indies, Caribbean, where he accepted the Lord as his personal savior and was baptized.
