BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF NATIONAL CITY GIVES ITS DIVERSITY DINNER

National City- On March 31, 2007, Boys & Girls Clubs of National City kicked off their 2007 Diversity Program, “Youth for Unity.”  The Boys & Girls Club unveiled their diversity mural in the “Wayne Sevier Memorial Gymnasium”, thanks to a generous contribution from The Allstate Foundation which funded the 2007 “Youth for Unity” program.
     Board President Allie Pruitt welcomed everyone to the dinner and thanked Oscar Warren the artist who directed the mural project by the members of Boys & Girls Clubs of National City. Pruitt also acknowledged The Allstate Foundation for funding the program as well as more than 15 restaurants and eateries who donated the food for the dinner. The resturants and eateries who donated were: Bens - Traditional & Asian Fusion Cuisine, Georges Wonderful World of Cakes, El Juan Café,Hanaoka, McDinis, Napoleone's Pizza House, Outback Steak House,Paradise Valley Hospital,Poppa John's Pizza,Pizza Plaza, Point Point Joint, Royal Mandarin Restaurant, Valerio's City Bakery, and Miriam's  Sambusas.
      This program is to assist in educating young people across the country about the importance of tolerance and diversity, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has joined forces with The Allstate Foundation to develop Youth for Unity, a diversity education program designed to combat prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. Youth for Unity is the umbrella title for a comprehensive set of programmatic interventions that will allow Clubs to help members appreciate and understand our society’s diversity, recognize unfairness and take personal leadership in confronting bias. Under this initiative, an additional diversity module will be developed for the Street SMART Program.  The current Executive Director is Kim Rohde. 
     The Boys & Girls Clubs of National City is located at 1430 D Avenue, National City, CA  91950.
